Our young team welcomes the whole year plenty of international guests in our highly awarded Ecolodge. The Ecolodge is the home of 20 trailhorses and offers different level of guest accommodation. We organise Horse-Trails for every riders level from 1.5 h to 6 days. During this time the riders are staying in the Ecolodge where we also welcome every Nature-Lover as our guest.

Ecolodge Housekeeping 2025 (m/f/x)

Available from April - September for 6 month

  • Your task is a real allrounder job. You like to work with guests and have proven track in this area.

    You are guest and service orientated, are team player and you have a feeling for wishes of a guest to make them an unforgettable stay.

    You are at least 20 years old. You like to make things nice and tidy in an exclusive atmosphere.

    You are willing to accept new responsibilities, you like to work in a team and you adopt your working plan and your schedules according the demands of a quickly changing organisation.

    You are able to speak at least english. You own a car driving license.

  • You and your colleagues are in charge for the daily preparation of our guest rooms and the public area of the Lodge. To make the room tidy, nice and to look for the small details. You will also work in the laundry and prepare the linen and towels for the guests.

    Checking the bar and to help in the service might be also part of your task. But anyway enough time to go for a ride in the afternoon or to enjoy the swim in the ocean on your free days.

Horse-Trail-Guides 2025 (m/f/x)

Available from April - September for 6 month

  • As Horse-Trail-Guide you have a proven track of horses and trail riding. You are guest and service orientated, minimum 22 years old with strong communication abilities, high safety awareness and team skills. Basic knowledge in vet topics, horse shoeing, trail guiding between 1-9 participants or practice as instructor are a real plus.

    Before you come to us, you have to join a first aid course. You will solve every day new challenges with the team. You accept new responsibilities and adopt your work according to the demands of a quickly changing operation. Beside English you speak another language. Preferable German or French. You own a driving license. Trailer driving licence is an advantage.

  • You get a comprehensive introduction in your task, the horses, the riding area and the Lodge offers. Afterwards you are in charge for preparation and realisation of the horsetrail, the safety of the team members / guests in relation with the horse and the guest satisfaction. You are working in all weather conditions. The work load will raise during the high season. You select and take the horses from the meadow, groom and tack them. You communicate actively with your guests about knowledge of landscape, botanic, culture and history of the Azores and Faial Island that we will teach you.

Work & Travel Program and Internship applications

Available any date throughout the year (4-12 weeks)

  • • Feeding horses and working on the horse training

    • Trail preparation and guiding small trails (after intensive training)

    • Working at the meadows and with individually allocated horses

    • Grooming of horses and maintenance of the equipment

    Participants help to care our horses and guests. They are involved in all farm related works. You will work closely with the horses and Ecolodge guests every day.

    Having knowledge as horse back rider your task will be predominantly related with horses. You have the opportunity to guide small horse trails (max. 3h).

    Having less or non knowledge in riding, you will be mostly working in grooming, cleaning of the paddocks and giving a hand around the stable or in the Lodge. We will always try to tailor your activities accordingly.

    Regular riding is part of the program according to the capability of rider and ability of horses. Car driver license is an advantage. Working Language is English. The program is informal, relaxed with hands-on-approach and supervision from the PÁTIO team members. Horse lover will get valuable practical experience with horses.

    Working time is normally 4h/day, 5 days/week. A free weekend is not mandatory.

    We also offer placements to Work & Travel participants with professional skills (vet, equine dentist, saddler or farrier) that would like to utilise these skills at the program.

    Internships are very welcome.

  • Work & Travel participants nearby the PÁTIO Ecolodge. A sea swimming site is close by and very close to the village that offers most facilities. All meals are in the Lodge. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are on working days included. Participants may be expected to share a bedroom and bathroom. Washing machine and free WiFi you find at the Lodge.

  • Take solid boots and work clothes with you. Rain protection clothes or rubber boots are utile. Riding participants must bring their own riding clothes and riding hat. Participants have to provide their own valid health insurance.

  • During the program, participants will be given the opportunity to see places of interest in the area. We will assist with arrangements, however, additional activities will be on the participants own expense i.e.: whale watching, swimming with dolphins or hiking tours.

  • 4 weeks: € 1,000 / person

    8 weeks: € 1.800 / person

    12 weeks: € 2.500 / person

    NB: The above quoted rates do not include additional food & drinks, activities, transfers (other than the transfer to and from airport) or airfares. The rates are defined to match costs of the stay.
