General itinerary of 3-day extension:
Relaxation feels so good after one week with your horse. In the Lodge Garden, on small hikes or while swimming in the sea. Overnight in PÁTIO Lodge.
Morning transfer to Whale Watching Station, Horta. You spend the morning on the sea and observe the huge whales with a Marine Biologist Team. Then individual lunch. Free afternoon. Transfer to PÁTIO Lodge and overnight stay.
In the morning you start your Island Van Tour. Together with your guide you visit old whaling bays and explore the city of Horta and the old whaling factory. Individual lunch. Our Nature Park Guide picks you up and drives you to the highest point of Faial, the huge caldeira of the volcano. Depending on your condition, you hike around the caldeira or descend 400m deep into it (2.5h hike). In cloudy weather, we will alternatively hike on the volcano of Capelinhos. Overnight in PÁTIO Lodge.
After breakfast, we will take you to Horta airport or the ferry terminal of Faial Island.

Transfer to the first ferry boat taking you in the early morning (30min. passage) to Pico Island. On the other side your guide is expecting you. Together you will visit the century old vineyards around Madalena village (UNESCO World Heritage Site). You visit an old distillery, sweet water lakes in the high mountain plateau, the mountain house, the start of the ascent to the highest mountain of Portugal and the old whalers town of Lajes. Including a typical island lunch. After the impressive day, you travel back to Faial Island on the late afternoons ferry. Transfer to PÁTIO Lodge and overnight stay.
In the morning we bring you to the Whale Watching Station, Horta. After the briefing you will receive your wetsuit and a pair of diver googles. Together with your guide, you sail out into the Zodiac boat looking for dolphins. As soon as they appear, you jump into their element and swim with them together in the deep blue Atlantic. Then individual lunch. Free afternoon. Transfer to PÁTIO Lodge and overnight stay.
